In Maarten, clients find a practical lawyer who thinks on his feet. Maarten looks beyond the legal framework and pays close attention to concrete facts and underlying interests. This enables him to provide clear and realistic advice, which also includes outlining realistic risks. Thanks to his direct style and healthy dose of humour, he quickly finds the right tone.
Maarten mainly assists government bodies, housing associations and project developers. Because he regularly assists government bodies, he has a keen sense of political and administrative relationships and takes this into account in his advice. He works in general administrative law and is particularly well versed in areas of law such as compensation for damage, pre-emptive rights, obligations to tolerate and expropriation. It is precisely in these cases that he sees the solutions that are most valuable to clients. In addition, Maarten acts as a strategic sounding board to seek solutions at an early stage and avoid legal proceedings.
Maarten studied Tax Law, Corporate Law and Law at Tilburg University. He also followed the Honours Programme there and studied Chinese law at Peking University. Maarten is a member of the Association for Administrative Law (VAR), the (Young) Association for Expropriation Law and the Limburg Young Bar Association. He also regularly writes articles in the trade press. Maarten has been a lawyer since 2022 and has been working at Boels Zanders since 2025.
