Advocate for results. For openness and transparency, both in his relationship with clients and in the internal work process with the team. Xander wants to see the big picture, to feel that he and his client are two sides of the same coin. That they know exactly what they want and where they are in the game. That’s when his added value is greatest.
As a lawyer, he holds up a mirror to clients. He points out where the risks lie and what the broader perspective looks like. Xander often sits around the table with public authorities. Sometimes he represents them, sometimes the other side. If they regard each other not as an enemy, but as a party they have to work with for the longer term, the outcome will be better for everyone. Sometimes you gain more by making a compromise and shifting your focus.
Xander has an extensive public law practice specialising in government contracting. Other focal points in his practice are planning and environmental law (environment, construction, urban planning and area development), grants and subsidies, government liability law, nature conservation law, sanction decisions and administrative procedure law.
Xander is a partner at Boels Zanders. He leads the Administrative Law specialisation and Government sector team.
