Acquisition: Wienerberger invests in water and energy management solutions

Pipelife Netherlands, one of Europe’s largest producers of plastic piping systems and a subsidiary of the Wienerberger Group, has acquired drainage specialist GrainPlastics. Boels Zanders advised Wienerberger on the acquisition. The integration of GrainPlastics with Pipelife opens up new avenues for growth and innovation in sustainable water management and the development of the electricity grid in the Netherlands. Moreover, the acquisition supports Wienerberger sustainability ambitions by increasing the use of recycled materials.

GrainPlastics

GrainPlastics specialises in the production of drainage systems, cable protection for agricultural, industrial, and infrastructural applications, and pipelines for gas and water transport. GrainPlastics operates production facilities in Leeuwarden and Hoogeveen and was part of the Vermeulen Group.

Wienerberger & Pipelife

With over 200 production sites in 28 countries, Wienerberger is a leading supplier of sustainable solutions for the entire building envelope, catering to both new construction and renovation projects, as well as infrastructure, water and energy management.

Pipelife, part of Wienerberger and one of Europe’s largest producers of plastic piping systems, aims for a safe and sustainable distribution of energy and water. Based in Enkhuizen, Pipelife Netherlands has been developing, producing, and supplying a smart and comprehensive range of piping systems for 75 years. The Pipelife Group operates globally with 24 facilities and approximately 3,300 employees.
